Iran, Libya Keen on Expanding Cultural Ties
TEHRAN (IBNA) - Iran’s Culture Minister Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaili held a meeting with his Libyan counterpart Mabrouka Toghi Othman yesterday as both sides discussed boosting ties in various fields of culture and art.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of a ceremony to introduce, Nouakchott the Mauritanian capital as the Culture Capital of the Islamic World for 2023.
Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance referred to the cultural and artistic potentials of Iran and Libya, particularly in the field of literature, cinema, poetry and visual arts, saying that the meeting marks the beginning of a new chapter in cultural and artistic ties between the two countries.
Mabrouka Toghi Othman, for her part, indicated the importance of holding Iranian calligraphy exhibitions in Libya and noted that such artistic events make people in the North African region more aware of the richness in the art and cultural works of the Iranians.
Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), affiliated to the Organization of the Islamic Conference, has chosen Nouakchott as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2023.
ICESCO is a specialized organization that operates under the aegis of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and is concerned with fields of education, science, culture and communication in Islamic countries in order to support and strengthen relations among Member States.
