President Raisi Lauds Iran-Russia Relations

TEHRAN – President Ebrahim Raisi on Sunday lauded the strategic relations between Tehran and Moscow, calling for promotion of economic cooperation between the two countries.
In a meeting to receive the credentials of Russia’s new ambassador to Iran Alexey Dedov, “Iran and Russia have suitable grounds for cooperation in bilateral, regional and international fields.”
For his part, the incoming Russian ambassador said one of the priorities in his mission is to push for the constant promotion of economic cooperation with Iran.
Dedov stated that strategic economic ties between Iran and Russia have frustrated the West’s policy of sanctions.
In a meeting with his Russian counterpart on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Uzbekistan in September 2022, Raisi expressed Tehran’s opposition to the sanctions against Russia, assuring Vladimir Putin that Iran will never join the campaign of anti-Russian sanctions.
Putin also said at the meeting that the Western states are not the masters of their word because they give as they want or take when they want.
Separately, President Raisi said expansion of relations with Muslim countries in different political, cultural and economic areas is the top priority of his administration.
The president made the remarks as he received credentials of Malaysia’s new ambassador to Iran Khairi Bin Omar.
Raisi said relations between Iran and Malaysia have always been growing, especially since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.
Referring to huge potentials for bilateral relations between Iran and Malaysia, President Raisi expressed hope that these potentials will help bilateral relations further expand in the future.
The Malaysian ambassador, for his part, conveyed the warm greetings of Malaysia’s king, prime minister and people to the Iranian government and people.
He said that trade, investment, education, science and technology, and tourism are among the main areas for further cooperation between the two countries.
In a meeting with Mali’s new ambassador to Tehran Muhammad Maïga, the president said Tehran is ready to increase economic relations with various African countries by relying on its own huge capacities.
He said Iran has been pursuing

plans to develop relations with African countries ever since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The president expressed hope that the new government of Mali would take great steps toward independence and development with the help of the country’s people.
He also condemned the West’s policy toward African countries, saying the Western countries went into Africa not to help its people but to plunder their wealth.
“We believe that African countries, given their rich natural and human resources, will manage to achieve more progress through their own independence and without the interference of the West,” Raisi said.
He added that the presence of Western countries in different parts of the world has only destabilized those regions and failed to establish security there.
