Raisi: U.S. Wooing  Venezuela Out of Necessity

TEHRAN – President Ebrahim Raisi on Sunday called on Iran and Venezuela to implement agreements signed between the two countries, saying this will help further expand their cooperation.
The president received the credentials of Venezuela’s new ambassador to Tehran José Rafael Silva Aponte, during which he touched on President Nicolas Maduro’s visit to Tehran and agreements signed between the two sides.
He expressed hope that the new Venezuelan ambassador will take steps to implement those agreements.
Raisi lauded the spirit of quest for independence among the Venezuelan people, which has turned them into an exemplary nation in their region.
He said the fresh push by the Americans to restore close relations with Venezuela is not out of friendship, but their need for new energy sources.
The Venezuelan ambassador, for his part, conveyed the warm greetings of President Maduro, saying his government and nation have always been grateful to Iran for its support and solidarity.
He also promised to do his best to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries during his tenure in Tehran.
