Tehran Blasts U.S., European Hypocrisy on Zionist Crimes
TEHRAN -- Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson on Wednesday denounced the blatant hypocrisy of the United States and its European allies on horrendous crimes committed by the Zionist regime against Palestinians.
Nasser Kanaaani cited a Palestinian official as saying that the apartheid regime forces have killed 220 Palestinians, injured 9,000, arrested 6,500, destroyed 832 buildings and uprooted 13,000 olive trees in 2022.
“From the point of view of America and Europe, all these crimes, even against women and children, do not constitute a violation of human rights, but deserve support,” the spokesman wrote in a tweet.
Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh made the announcement on Tuesday.
Quoted by the official WAFA news agency, Shtayyeh said Palestinians are not afraid of threats from the incoming Israeli regime headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, the most right-wing in its history.
“We all know that our battle with the occupation is a political battle and that the solution to the conflict is political, not economic or otherwise,” he said.
“The world stands with us, despite its preoccupation with emerging issues.”
The remarks came as hundreds of Palestinians took to the streets in the occupied West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip on Tuesday to demand the body of Palestinian prisoner, Nasser Abu Hamid, who died in an Israeli prison last week while battling cancer.
The protesters carried a symbolic coffin adorned with Abu Hamid’s picture in Gaza, demanding that the world body play a role in securing the release of the bodies of Abu Hamid and other Palestinian martyrs.
The aggression of Israeli forces, both during the military raids and inside the custody, has assumed alarming proportions over the years with the Western powers turning a blind eye to it.
Palestinian women and children have borne the worst brunt of the apartheid regime’s crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories, according to international bodies.
Last month, international London-based NGO Save the Children said the year 2022 had become the deadliest year for Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank in over 15 years.
The number of children killed by Zionist forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank doubled this year, Save the Children said, denouncing the “continued use of lethal force against children”.
In the latest report released on Monday, the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said the Zionist regime has this year placed more than 600 Palestinian children under house arrest.
It said the practice has mostly been used against children and youth in the eastern side of the occupied city of Al-Quds.
