Kuwait Investigates Local Bank’s Dealing With Zionist Company
KUWAIT (Dispatches) – Kuwait said Sunday it has launched an investigation into suspicions of contracting with a Zionist company by a local bank.
In a statement, Finance Minister Abdulwahab al-Rushaid said his ministry has formed a committee to investigate allegations that the Credit Bank has contracted with a Zionist company.
He said the bank had received a notice from the Audit Bureau that it was using a protection system for a company based in Tel Aviv.
The minister called for immediately scrapping the contract, if proved true.
The bank had earlier denied reports about contacting with a Zionist company, saying the firm is a registered entity in Kuwait and has required licenses.
Kuwait has no diplomatic ties with the occupying regime, and refuses to allow holders of Zionist travel documents or passports to enter its territories.
An opinion poll earlier this year showed that most Kuwaitis support boycott of the Zionist regime and reject a normalization of relations with the occupying regime.
The poll revealed that 95 percent of Kuwaitis oppose any normalization of ties with the occupying regime and 70 percent of the people adamantly disagree with developing any relations with the Zionist regime, Alkhaleej Online reported.
The report added that the Kuwaiti government and people support the Palestinian cause and are maintaining their stance on the issue.
Kuwaitis insist on imposing sanctions on the occupying regime, the report said, adding that Kuwait reaffirmed its stance against the regime by boycotting the regime in sports and trades and banning ships sailing between them or carrying cargo bound for Israel.
No Kuwaiti athlete, politician, intellectual, or writer accepts to be present in one place with Zionists, and they do not participate in any event that includes representatives of the occupying state, it concluded.
