Iran Women Team Kata Grabs Silver in Uzbekistan
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan – Iranian women’s team kata has ranked second at the 2022 Asian Karate Championship underway in Uzbekistan.
Iranian women’s team kata is comprised of Elnaz Taghipour, Najmeh Ghazizadeh, and Shadi Jafarizadeh.
The team was beaten by the Japanese squad in the final of the competition.
Iranian karate fighters have bagged 23 colorful medals at the sporting event.
The Iranian athletes scooped six gold, seven silver, and 20 bronze medals at the competition.
On the third day of the event, the senior kata of committee matches ended and the Iranian national team got six bronze medals.
Iran’s Sara Bahmanyar, Fatemeh Saadati, Mobina Heidari, and Leila Borjali in the women’s committee, and Ali Meskini and Saleh Abazari in the men’s committee won bronze medals.
In the competitions such experienced athletes as Amir Mehdizadeh, Bahman Asgari, and Zabihollah Purshib did not perform as well as expected and were eliminated from the medal-winning group.
Thus, up to the end of the third day of the competitions, the representatives of Iran karate have won 29 medals: six gold, six silver, and 17 bronze medals.
