Isfahan Shortlisted as Next Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum Host

TEHRAN (IBNA) -- Iran’s Culture Minister Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaili met the President of Islamic ‎Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) Taha Ayhan in Istanbul and introduced the city of ‎Isfahan as a candidate to host the next edition of ICYF.‎
The meeting took place during the visit of Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance to Istanbul for attending the 12th Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Information Ministers centered on “Condemning Misinformation and Islamophobia”.
Esmaili declared Iran’s readiness for the development and expansion of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum in the meeting and stressed that such cooperation should be expanded in scientific, cultural and artistic fields.
He also expressed interest to establish the secretariat of young ambassadors of Islamic in Iran. For his part, Taha Ihan presented a report on the activities of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum and stated that he and his colleagues welcome the holding of ICYF in Iran.
Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum is an international, non-commercial, non-partisan organization uniting leading umbrella youth organizations from the Member-States of the Organization of Islamic-Cooperation as well as international youth organizations, operating in the OIC region and youth organizations representing significant Muslim minorities worldwide. The Forum was established at its Founding General Assembly held in Baku, Azerbaijan on 1 – 3 December 2004.
The Organization of the Islamic Conference, is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1969, consisting of 57 member states, with 48 being Muslim-majority countries. The organisation states that it is “the collective voice of the Muslim world” and works to “safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony”.
The OIC has permanent delegations to the United Nations and the European Union. The official languages of the OIC are Arabic, English, and French. It maintains various affiliated, specialized, and subsidiary organs within the framework of OIC Charter. The member states had a collective population of over 1.8 billion as of 2015, accounting for just under a quarter of the world’s population. The collective area is also 31.66 m km2.
