London Festival Screens ‘Summer With Hope’

TEHRAN – The BFI London Film Festival in the UK is screening Iranian movie ‘Summer with Hope’.
Iranian director-screenwriter Sadaf Forughi’s second feature film is taking part in the 66th edition of the British event.
‘Summer with Hope’ is a 99-minute intimate family drama that cements the filmmaker’s position as an exciting voice in contemporary Iranian cinema.
Talented teenage swimmer Omid travels with his mother and uncle from their home in Tehran to the Caspian Sea, where he intends to compete in the national team qualifiers.
But a bureaucratic mishap threatens Omid’s participation. Frustrations turn to anger, revealing bitter resentments that lie beyond the 17-year-old’s sporting ambitions.
Paying keen attention to the minutiae of the dynamic between Omid and the adults in his life, the astutely observed details hint at the profound rupture that the film gradually journeys towards.
Cast list of ‘Summer with Hope’ includes Mehdi Qorbani, Leili Rashidi, Alireza Kamali, Kiarash Anvari, Milad Mirzaee, and Sanaz Najafi.
The BFI London Film Festival is an annual film festival founded in 1957 and held in the UK, running for two weeks in October with cooperation from the British Film Institute.
It screens more than 300 films, documentaries and shorts from approximately 50 countries.
Earlier reports said Iranian films ‘File’ by Sonia Haddad and Mani Haqiqi’s ‘Subtraction’ are also participating at the BFI London Film Festival.
The 2022 edition of the festival has been slated for October 5-16.
