Iran’s Judoka Fathipour Wins Silver in Tajikistan Tournament
TEHRAN – Mehdi Fathipour from Iran finished second and won silver in -81kg judo Presidents Cup Tournament in Tajikistan.
Fathipour is among the three judokas making up the Iranian national team taking part in the Judo tournament underway in Dushanbe.
He won silver in a competition with his rival from the host country.
Judoka from Iran, Russia, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will take to the mat.
Athletes will compete in seven weight categories - up to 60, 66, 73, 81 , 90, 100 and over 100 kilograms.
Winners will receive cash prizes, medals and diplomas. The winner will be awarded about a thousand dollars, for the second place over 500 dollars, for the third - about 300 dollars. For the first time, the Cup of the President of Tajikistan was held in 2013. Competitions are held in different cities of the country.
