Top-Rated Joint Production Competes at Religion Today
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The Religion Today Film Festival in Italy has been scheduled to play host to Iranian movie ‘19’.
The 77-minute movie, a joint production of Iran and Germany directed by Manijeh Hekmat, will compete at the 25th edition of the Italian gala.
The movie is a personal journey in life and death, love and war, as well as creativity and quest.
In ‘19’, after getting infected with COVID-19, a 57-year-old painter, single woman, Mitra, goes into a coma.
With her last breaths, she travels to different pieces of her memories through her unconscious mind.
Mitra’s spirit returns home to pack imaginary luggage full of her bittersweet memories and take it away. Moments before her last travel, she looks back at the lives of hers, her friends and her generation; at what they have done, what they have built and what they have ruined.
It was internationally premiered at the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival in India, where it was praised for Innovation in Moving Images.
Cast list of the movie includes Pantea Panahiha, Bozorgmehr Hosseinpour, Katayoun Amir-Ebrahimi, Jamshid Ahangarani-Farahani, Parisa Nemati-Moqaddam, Mehdi Nemati-Moqaddam, Navid Sajjadi-Hosseini, Fatemeh Farahani, Azam Rangrazan, Narta Sajjadi-Hosseini, Nila Alami, and Borzoo Azad.
“Religion Today has been the foremost international and itinerant film festival dedicated to cinema and religions for a culture of peace and dialogue between faiths, cultures, peoples and individuals,” the organizers say.
