Imam Ali (AS) Shrine Adorned With Iranian Artist’s Work
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- Iranian artist’s painting themed on Ashura has been installed in courtyard of Imam Ali’s (AS) holy shrine.
The painting named “Ashura’s Christ” was created by Iranian artist Mahmoud-Ali Naderi.
The impressive work reimagines a scene from the Battle of Ashura in which a vicious foe of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS) fatally shot his six-month-old baby in the throat with an arrow.
In conjunction with the mourning ceremonies for Imam Hussein’s (AS) martyrdom, the installation was recently placed at the Bab al-Qibla entrance of the first Shia Imam’s holy shrine in Iraq.
In a number of literary works, Imam Hussein’s (AS) agony during the Battle of Karbala is likened to that of Jesus Christ.
