Iran Asks Greece, Italy About Stranded Migrants
TEHRAN – Iran’s foreign ministry says it has contacted Greece and Italy to get information about unconfirmed reports that a group of Iranian migrants have been stranded at sea near Greek waters.
In a statement, the ministry’s public relations department said it took immediate action after seeing the footage of purportedly stranded migrants amid unconfirmed reports that a number of them had Iranian nationality.
The statement said the foreign ministry is seriously pursuing the case through Iran’s ambassadors to Athens and Rome and in contact with relevant authorities in those countries.
