Hamas Renews Objection to Turkey-Zionist Normalization
GAZA STRIP (Dispatches) –
Palestinian Hamas resistance movement has renewed its rejection of Turkish normalization with the Zionist regime, a statement said.
“Hamas denies media reports alleging that the movement had ‘hailed’ Turkish normalization with the Israeli occupation,” the statement said.
It added: “In this regard, we reaffirm our rejection of all forms of normalization as it contradicts the Palestinian national constants and the interests of the Palestinian people, as well as the interests of the Arab and Muslim nations.”
This came following remarks made by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who said in a TV interview with the Haber Global TV that both Fatah and Hamas “want our relations with Israel to be normalized.”
He also said that the normalization of ties between Turkey and the Zionist occupation would not mean that Ankara will “make concessions on the Palestinian cause,” pointing out that “dialogue should continue even if you do not agree on everything.”
Last week, Hamas said a statement sent to the media in its name hailing the Turkish-Zionist ties had been fabricated.
It called on the media “to seek accuracy and the truth and use the movement’s official website as a source for its statements.”
The Zionist regime and Turkey announced the full normalization of their relations last week and later reappointed ambassadors.
Four years ago, the ambassadors were expelled over the killing of 60 Palestinians by Zionist troops during protests in Gaza against the opening of the United States Embassy in Al-Quds.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has also claimed that recent steps to normalize Ankara’s ties with the occupying regime will not weaken the country’s support for Palestine in the conflict between the two sides.
Erdogan’s remarks come as he met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday as part of the latter’s official visit to Turkey’s capital city, Ankara.
Erdogan told a joint news conference that Ankara continues its ‘long-standing solidarity’ with Palestine in the strongest way.
