TEHRAN (IBNA) -- At a webinar held to discuss the Persian translation of the Chinese novel High-‎pitched by Ma Ping, the experience of poverty alleviation in China as described in this ‎work was considered. ‎
The webinar was attended by the Director of Gunia Publishing Amir No’ei who has released this work in Persian, translators of the book Pegah Yazdanshenas and Hossein Khalifi as well as a media activist and broadcaster Atefeh Haidari.
At the beginning of the session, Amir No’ei spoke about the reasons behind selecting this book for translation into Persian and referred to the successful experience of China in poverty alleviation which enabled that country to develop from a poverty-stricken land to the second economic power of the world within the time span of just 40 years.
He also pointed out that the publication of ‘High-pitched Tunes’ in Persian which was released in September 2021 became possible through the support given by China’s Import and Export Company which also purchased the copyright of the book.
Next, Yazdanshenas, one of the translators of the book who has studied Chinese in Iran and then South Korea referred to the difficulties she coped with during her translation of this work and indicated the brilliant chapters of the book.
The other translator of ‘High-pitched Tunes’ Hossein Khalifi spoke about his long-term stay in China and explained that development in that country particularly in terms of infrastructures is totally transparent.
Following the session, Kambiz Maouchehrian who has translations of some books in his career elaborated on the symbols of tradition and modernity in ‘High-pitched Tunes’. He pointed out that for example drilling machine, mobile phone and flat television are the symbols of modernity, on the other hand, cymbal, drum and poetry represent the symbols of tradition.
