‘Turquois Jewel of the Islamic World’ Shines in Tabriz

TEHRAN (IP) - Blue Mosque in northeastern Iran is an architectural masterpiece, also known as the ‘Turquois Jewel of the Islamic World.’
Tabriz’s Blue Mosque has been built based on Azeri architecture, with a square-shaped court in the middle of which there is a pool for making Wudu for saying prayers.
The blue color of the tails used in the mosque’s walls has caused the building to be known as the ‘Turquoise Jewel of the Islamic World.’
Part of the historical mosque was destroyed due to the earthquake in 1779; then, it was reconstructed in 1939, with the repairing process ongoing until 2014.
Blue Mosque in Tabriz is nowadays a tourist destination due to the city’s cool weather amidst summer.
