Construction of Second  Bushehr Nuclear Plant Begins

TEHRAN – Iran has started pouring concrete for the wall of the second unit of its Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Muhammad Eslami visited the Bushehr nuclear power plant on Friday evening to observe the launch.
The official stressed the need to remove obstacles on the way of constructing the second and third units of the plant, saying work at the two sites is 28 months behind the schedule.
Now that most of restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic have been lifted and the necessary funds allocated, the construction work is expected to speed up, Eslami added.
In November 2014, the Nuclear Power Production and Development Company of Iran (NPPD) and Russia’s Atomstroiexport signed two contracts to work on parts of the 2nd and 3rd units.
A total of $10 billion has been allocated for the construction of the two units.
The two WWER-1,000 will have a total 2,100 megawatt installed capacity.
