Tehran, Ashgabat Collaborate in Media Productions

TEHRAN (IP) - The Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) and the Chairman of the State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting, and Cinematography of Turkmenistan emphasized the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the production of films and series.
Peyman Jebbeli, the head of IRIB, met with Arsalan Ashirov, President of the State Radio and Television of Turkmenistan, on Thursday.
Jebbeli said: “The two countries should cooperate and support each other in the Asian Broadcasting Union.”
Jebbeli added: “Turkmen Radio is one of the most important and oldest media outlets among the dozens of radio and television networks covered by IRIB world service, and its products are aimed at strengthening the common Islamic culture, traditions, and believes of Iran and Turkmenistan.”
Referring to the popularity of Iranian-Turkmen poet Makhtum-Qoli Faraghi (Magtymguly Pyragy, 1733-1790), the IRIB President said: “Iranians are familiar with Makhtum-Qoli Faraghi, especially his poems in praise of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH). It is valuable for the people of Iran and Turkmenistan.”
Jebbeli suggested that the Makhtum-Qoli series be produced as a joint Iranian-Turkmen television production, which Ashirov Arslan welcomed.
Ashirov Arslan Gurbanmammedovich, Chairman of the State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting, and Cinematography of Turkmenistan, also expressed satisfaction that a new phase in the media cooperation between the two countries would begin with the signing of a new media agreement with IRIB.
The head of the National Radio and Television of Turkmenistan also stressed that a special program on Iranian culture and art would soon be broadcast on Turkmen TV.
