Tehran, Baghdad Discuss Interest in Music
TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Alaa Majid, Director General of Musical Arts Department in the Iraqi Ministry of Culture said that Iran and Iraq enjoy commonalities in musical maqams and have the same spirit of music with different languages.
Majid made the remarks in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Allahyari.
The Iraqi people are also very interested in Iranian music and listen to Iranian music in their cars, he added.
Fortunately, there is good willingness to cooperate between the Iranian and Iraqi governments, and this is a great opportunity for both sides to be able to establish extensive cooperation.
Meanwhile, Allahyari elaborated on structure of musical activities in Iran and introduced music festivals in the country.
He suggested Iraqi musical groups’ presence in Fajr Music Festival.
He referred to National Festival of Youth Music as the most important festival for talent spotting for the young generation in Iran.
