Russia, Iran to Launch Green Customs to Strengthen Cooperation
TEHRAN – Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Alireza Moghadasi said on Sunday that Islamic Republic of Iran and Russian Federation will set up a customs office entitled “Green Customs” in line with invigoration of bilateral cooperation in the field of customs.
Moghadasi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Ivanovich Bulavin has inked two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to further expansion and development of mutual ties.
The MoU in the field of educating and training of skilled forces, the two countries customs’ MoU on cooperating in customs field to tackle customs violations until 2025 and a draft agreement to identify the authorized economic activists in order to use “Green Customs” Crossing were among the MoUs signed between Iran and Russia customs officials.
During the meeting, Bulavin emphasized the need for boosting bilateral cooperation to launch “Green Customs Crossing” and said that if authorized economic agents of the two countries are identified, a new customs agreement will be launched in this respect.
Referring to the tough sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia, he said, “Since Iran has been put under tough sanctions by the United State and the West, the two countries can cooperate with each other in order to overcome sanctions.”
IRICA president, for his part, pointed to cruel sanctions imposed by the U.S. and Western countries against Iran and Russia, and stated that although sanctions can pose a threat to economy; these threats have been turned into opportunity with the resistance of Iranian people.
Moghadasi called for further cooperation of Tehran and Moscow to counter and nullify consequences of sanctions.
Iran to Likely Cancel Visas for Russian Merchants
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari said that the country will possibly cancel visas for the Russian businessmen in order to increase investment in the country.
Safari made the remarks in a meeting of the Foreign Economic Relations Coordination Headquarters to discuss “Iran-Russia Relations” on Sunday.
In the meeting, Safari described relations with Russia as strategic, saying that the relations have had tangible progress in recent months.
The three energy, trade, and transit fields are important issues between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia, which require the cooperation of responsible apparatus, Safari said.
The deputy foreign minister also expressed his satisfaction with the increase in Iran’s exports to China and Russia in recent months.
Saying that Russia has published a list of its requirements, he added that Iran has the capacity to export many of these data-x-items and this could lead to a significant increase in Iran’s exports.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Safari announced the possibility of visa-free travel for Russian businessmen in order to increase investment in the country.
