Iran Disrupted Hegemonic Powers’ Agenda
TEHRAN -- Leader of the
Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei here Wednesday said the religious democracy of Iran is a new model that has ruined the hegemonic world’s agenda, saying that is why the Islamic Republic is faced with constant animosity of the world powers.
“The Islamic democracy in Iran has been able to disrupt the domineering powers’ agenda for ruling the world. The system of the domineering powers means there’s a group that dominates and a dominated group. Religious democracy in Iran has disrupted this and that’s why they oppose Iran,” he told members of the Iranian parliament.
“A religious, Islamic democracy is a new idea. We have brought this into the world’s political literature. This is what provokes the animosity of the top powers in the world against this truth and phenomenon,” the Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the difficulties and complexities of statecraft under the current treacherous circumstances in the international arena.
“Hostile rivalries among nuclear powers, military moves in Europe where wars arise, new contagious diseases, threats of food shortages - under such conditions in the world, managing countries has become more complicated,” the Leader said, adding Iran’s administrators should know what great tasks await them.
“I do not know of any place where there have been as many wars as in Europe. Europe is an area where many wars arise. Two world wars started there and spread throughout the world killing tens of millions of human beings.”
The Leader called on state officials to identify both capabilities and vulnerabilities correctly and be careful not to make any mistake “because the enemy has pinned its hopes on our mistakes rather than being hopeful about its own abilities”.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the way to wade safely through the current difficulties and achieve victory and success is to act in a jihadi manner, have strong determination and self-sacrifice, develop initiatives, hold a long-term view, and above all, rely on Almighty God.
He described Iran’s parliament among the “main pillars of the country’s management” and called on the three branches of power and other apparatuses to closely cooperate on tackling the problems.
The Leader further emphasized that the Iranian lawmakers must pay heed to the difficulties facing the country.
“Managing a country with such a position like that of … Iran is an important and naturally difficult and complicated task given the current special circumstances in the world,” he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei also remembered the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the strategic Iranian city of Khorramshahr from former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s occupation.
