Sofa to Vie for Awards at Naples Festival

TEHRAN -- The screenplay of Iranian short film ‘Sofa’ has found a competition slot at the 2022 Gulf of Naples Independent Film Festival in Italy.
Written and directed by Sahra Ramezanian, ‘Sofa’ will be vying at the 8th edition of the Italian festival which is due for May 26-28, 2022 in Naples.
‘Sofa’ was previously screened at the 14th Angelica Festival in the U.S. state of California.
‘Sofa’ narrates the story of a couple who are encountered with a bitter truth right on their wedding night.
Ramezanian also made her directorial debut with ‘The Sea’ in 2020, which competed at the 27th Annual Twin Rivers Media Festival in the US, the IndieX Film Fest – Los Angeles Int’l Film Festival, the NewFilmmakers NY (New York’s longest running year round Film Festival), the 14h Int’l Rotary Short Film Festival (ROFİFE) in Turkey, the Clapperboard Golden Festival in Brazil and the Changing Face Int’l Film Festival in Australia.
The “Gulf of Naples Independent Film Festival” is an international showcase for various types and genres of movies which aims at “promoting and popularizing art films and experimental films with a small-scale distribution, thus becoming a meeting point of different artistic experiences,” according to the event’s official website.
