Rusty Milan Held by Torino in Serie A
ROME (Reuters) - AC
Milan struggled to be clinical in Serie A, as they played out a goalless tie again with Torino.
It was Milan’s second successive 0-0 stalemate after the Diavolo was held by Bologna last weekend, despite 33 attempts.
Milan were in dire need of a victory to maintain their advantage on the table but visited Torino without Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The away side managed 13 attempts throughout the whole game, but only a few of them really threatened while on the other end Mergim Vojvoda forced a stunning save out of Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
After the tie, AC Milan still rank first with 68 points, but saw their lead diminished to two point over second-placed Inter Milan who have a game in hand.
Elsewhere, Napoli dropped to third place after a home setback, as the Partenopei lost to Fiorentina 3-2 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
It was a good day for both Roma teams, as Ciro Immobile continued his fearsome form at club level, completing a hat-trick to surge Lazio to dominate Genoa 4-1, while Carles Perez and Chris Smalling’s goals in a matter of four minutes surged Roma to register a comeback 2-1 victory over Salernitana.
Also on Sunday, Sassuolo beat Atalanta 2-1, while Udinese won Venezia away with the same scoreline.
