‘The Recess’ to Compete at Irish Film Festival

TEHRAN -- Iranian short flick ‘The Recess’ has been selected to compete at the Fastnet Film Festival in Ireland.
Written, produced and directed by Navid Nikkhah-Azad, the short flick will go on screen at the 14th edition of the Irish event.
‘The Recess’ tells the story of a 17-year-old school-girl who runs away from school to watch the football match of her beloved club.
Sahar, along with three of her friends, is planning to exit the school during the break in order to watch the match between Esteghlal FC and Al Ain FC at Azadi Sports Complex.
Mozhan Kordi, Reyhaneh Naieean, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili are on the cast list.
Kordi won the award for the best performance for her role in ‘The Recess’ at the Living Skies Student Film Festival in Canada. The flick has won awards such as best short film award at the Oxford Film Festival, best short drama award at the San Francisco Frozen Film Festival, best short film award at the Johns Hopkins Film Festival, and Award of Excellence at the IndieFest Film Awards, all in the U.S.
Most recently, it won the Edward Snowden award at the International Festival Signs of the Night in Portugal, the Jury Award at the Sarno Film Festival in Italy, the Best Short Fiction Film Award at the International Photography and Short Movie Festival in Indonesia, the award for best short film at the International Film Festival for Human Rights in Colombia, and the Best Short Film Award at the Progeny Short Film Festival in the U.S.
‘The Recess’ has also taken part in a large number of global events in many countries, including the U.S., the UK, Uruguay, Turkey, Spain, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, and Chile.
The Fastnet Film Festival screens short films from all over the world and invites industry professionals to share their knowledge with the visiting filmmakers.
The 14th edition of the event will take place on May 25-29, 2022.
