Two Civilians Killed in Zionist Missile Strikes on Syria
DAMASCUS (Dispatches) – the Zionist regime’s missile strikes killed at least two civilians before dawn on Monday near the Syrian capital Damascus, state media reported.
The occupying regime carried out the strikes at around 5:00 a.m. (0300 GMT), hitting positions south of the capital, Syria’s official SANA news agency said, citing a military source.
“Our air defense systems intercepted the missiles, downing most of them,” SANA added.
“Two civilians were killed and some material damage was incurred,” it said, without elaborating.
The Britain-based so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the occupying regime has carried out raids in Syria at least seven times since the start of the year.
Last month, Zionist raids near the capital killed six Syrians, the Observatory says.
Syria and the Zionist regime are technically at war due to the latter’s 1967-present occupation of the Arab country’s Golan Heights.
The occupying regime maintains a significant military presence in the territory, which it uses as one of its launchpads for attacks against the Syrian soil.
The attacks started to grow significantly in scale and frequency after 2011, when Syria found itself in the grip of rampant foreign-backed terrorism.
The Zionist regime claims that its attacks target alleged supplies that are headed for the Lebanese resistance movement of Hezbollah, which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army in its fight against the foreign-backed terrorists.
On countless occasions, though, the strikes have targeted reinforcement belonging to Syria’s military and its allies.
The Tel Aviv regime mostly keeps quiet about its attacks on the Syrian territories which many view as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s increasing success in confronting terrorism.
In another incident, at least 13 Syrian army personnel were killed and several others injured on Sunday in an attack by foreign-backed terrorists on the military bus they were travelling on in the central province of Homs.
The incident took place in the desert region of the city of Palmyra in the countryside of Homs, the state news agency SANA reported, citing military sources.
“At nearly 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, a military bus was targeted by a terrorist attack with various types of weapons in Palmyra countryside of al-Badiyah, east of the Third Station,” the report said, citing a source.
Back in May 2020, a number of captured Daesh terrorists confessed to close cooperation with U.S. military forces stationed at al-Tanf base on carrying out various acts of terror and sabotage.
