EU Calls on Zionists to Stop Repressing Palestinians
BRUSSELS (Dispatches) – The European Union has called on the Zionist regime to halt the use of excessive force and live bullets against Palestinians.
“The excessive use of force and live bullets against the Palestinians must be stopped,” the EU said in a statement.
Three Palestinians were killed on Tuesday, including two during a raid by Zionist troops on the occupied city of Jenin. The occupation also stormed the Bethlehem town of Beit Fajjar.
Clashes between Zionist troops and Palestinians also erupted in the Al-Quds’ occupied district of Damascus Gate (Bab Al-Amoud) on Monday after the Zionist police attacked a number of Palestinians, who were commemorating the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him)’s ascension, the Israa and Miraj. An 11-year-old girl with special needs suffered severe injuries to her jaw as a result of the attack.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said the attack in Al-Quds left 31 Palestinians injured.
Palestinian and international rights groups have long condemned the excessive use of force by Zionist troops against Palestinians.
Israeli rights group B’Tselem said it had recorded the death of 77 Palestinians by the regime’s forces in the West Bank last year.
It highlighted that more than half of those killed were not implicated in any attacks.
The occupying regime’s military frequently carries out wide-ranging arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank under the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.
The swoops are usually followed by protests by the residents, which lead to near-daily fatal clashes.
On Wednesday, Zionist troops rounded up dozens of Palestinians in overnight raids across the occupied West Bank, according to a local NGO.
In a statement, the Asra Media Office said 16 Palestinians were detained in the town of Husan, west of Bethlehem, 13 in Silat al-Harithiya town, west of Jenin, four in Nablus, and two in Qalqilya.
Palestine called on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities in stopping the ongoing Zionist aggression against the occupied city of Al-Quds, Anadolu reported.
A statement issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to free itself from the square of formal condemnations and to start deterrent actions and measures.
It also called on the international body to put an end to the regime’s colonial plans against the city, as well as its indifference to international law, international humanitarian laws, and to force Tel Aviv to comply with the relevant UN resolutions.
