TEHRAN -- Health Minister Bahram Einollahi on Saturday hailed Iran’s success in restraining the coronavirus pandemic.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized Iran as one of the top countries in countering COVID-19, he said during a visit to a hospital in Tehran.
In terms of confronting the infectious disease, it can be said that Iran is the top country in the region and among the top ten in the world, Einollahi added.
One of the Islamic Republic’s major achievements, he said, is the production of home-grown coronavirus vaccines.
Currently, six Iranian companies are producing the vaccines in the country, he said.
Einollahi said while there were some problems in treating patients at the beginning of the arrival of the virus, Iran has now acquired necessary equipment such as ventilators as well as medicines used in treatment of COVID-19 patients.
