President Pezeshkian: Iran to Counter Terrorists in Coordination With Neighbors

TEHRAN - President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed Iran’s resolve to utilize all capacities at its disposal to counter terrorists in Syria in coordination with the country’s neighbors.
In a live televised interview on Monday night, Pezeshkian said that his telephone conversations with his Syrian and Russian counterparts, as well as the Qatari emir and the Iraqi prime minister, focused on the issue that “terrorists and conspirators should not be allowed to drag the region into war and bloodshed again.”
“We respect the territorial integrity of all countries, which we believe should not be violated under any pretexts,” he added.
“We will do our best to establish security and peace, and confront terrorists. We will coordinate our efforts with the neighboring, brotherly, and friendly countries.”
The remarks came as Syria is grappling with resurgence of Takfiri terrorism, sponsored by the U.S. and Israel, after the pair failed in the bloody war on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
Iran was the first country to rush to Syria’s aid following the 2011 outbreak of foreign-sponsored violence in the Arab country.
President Pezeshkian mentioned ongoing dialogues with European countries, despite recent sanctions.
Pezeshkian also elaborated on the measures by his government during the first 100 days after taking office to fulfill his election promise of national consensus.
He said that the formation of the cabinet, the appointment of governor generals, and the timely handing-over of the next year’s budget bill to the Parliament were among the measures taken by the government in line with its slogan of national unity.
Pezeshkian added that another challenge at the start of his tenure was debts to the wheat farmers, nurses, and retirees, which the government handled in the best possible way, his official website reported.
“Our first task was to form the cabinet based on the national unity slogan, which was accomplished with the participation of over 400 people

and the establishment of various committees”, he said, adding that his entire cabinet received the vote of confidence from the Iranian Parliament.
In the next step, the president said, he requested that ministers prepare operational plans for various sectors based on the mandates of the 20-Year Vision Document and General Policies set by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and specify who would be in charge of implementing each part of the plans.
“In the next phase, considering the time limits, we prepared the budget bill with the round-the-clock efforts of experts from the Planning and Budget Organization and the government, and despite the limited time, we managed to submit it to the Parliament in a timely manner”, Pezeshkian said.
He referred to local governors in the provinces of Kurdistan, Khuzestan, and Sistan and Baluchestan, saying, “Previously, we had a Kurdish governor general for Kurdistan Province, but this is the first time that a Kurdish Sunni individual has been appointed as governor general there. In other provinces, local governors have also been appointed in line with the national unity slogan and using qualified individuals regardless of ethnicity and religion.”
Pezeshkian added that the number of female managers in his government, which is the 14th government of the Islamic Republic, is higher compared with previous governments.
This trend will continue by appointing female governors, he said, stressing that these achievements were made due to supports of Ayatollah Khamenei.
