U-23 Freestyle Wrestlers Claim First World Championship Title
TEHRAN - Iran has won the freestyle team title for the first time in the under-23 World Wrestling Championships.
The under-23 freestyle wrestling competitions of the world championship were held from October 25 to 27 in Tirana, Albania, according to the public relations of the wrestling federation.
Iranian wrestlers won 3 gold, one silver, and 3 bronze medals.
The Iranian team was represented by Mehdi Yousefi in 79 weight, Amir Hussein Firozpour in 92 weight, Amirreza Firozpour in 92 weight, Amirreza Firozpour Masoumi in 125 weight, Mehdi Hajiluian in 97 weight, silver medal, Ali Momeni in 57 weight, Ibrahim Wozni in 61 weight and Abbas Abrahi Mazadeh in 70 weight.
The Iranian team won the championship title for the first time in the history of the world under-23 competitions.
Iran ranked first with 158 points, Japan ranked second with 102 points, and Azerbaijan ranked third with 100 points.
Over 650 wrestlers competed, with 240 each in Freestyle and Greco-Roman, and 184 in Women’s wrestling.
