DAMASCUS (Xinhua) – Syrian Transport Minister Zuhair Khazim says that the U.S. sanctions had caused technical challenges in the country’s air transport sector, the state news agency SANA reported. During his visit to the international airport of Damascus, the minister stressed that the unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States on Syria have prevented foreign companies from dealing with the aerial sector in Syria, which led to difficulty in fixing the equipment or securing spare parts. He noted that there is a challenge in securing enough funding for the aerial sector amid skyrocketing prices, which, he said, had affected the quality of services provided for the passengers.
