Italian Festival Awards ‘The Sprayer’
TEHRAN -- Iranian animation ‘The Sprayer’ has received its 110th international award.
The film, directed by Farnoush Abedi, grabbed the best film award at the fifth edition of the Solidando Film Festival in Italy.
The animated piece has so far been screened at about 330 international film festivals.
The Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) is the producer of ‘The Sprayer’ on man’s hostile attitude towards the Earth.
The story of the movie is set in an unknown land, where a group of soldiers is on a mission to destroy all types of growing plants.
One of the soldiers realizes that the plants are not only safe but also useful. Therefore, despite his mission, he tries to preserve one of the plants.
“Due to recent changes in the environment, the hostility of human beings with the Earth, global warming, the gradual erosion of the Earth, and a desperate struggle to save the future, it seems the greatest threat in the course of history is happening for man,” Abedi said in an interview with local media.
“The animation is a symbolic look at this great threat, which can turn into a global issue,” she added.
‘The Sprayer’ won best short film award at the IndieX Film Fest in the U.S., Best Short Animation Award at the Human Rights Film Festival in Italy, and best short animation award at the Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival in Australia.
Established in 2004, the Solidando Film Festival is a non-profit international competitive festival of short films with a maximum length of 20 minutes that include the genres: documentary, fiction or animation exclusively on social themes.
The festival has a commitment to help low-income countries, improving educational growth and reduce social disadvantage through specific projects, according to the organizers.
This year’s edition of the event was held on January 20-22.
