Local Petrochemical Firms Mull Hydrogen Production
TEHRAN - Iran Petrochemical companies have planned invest to produce hydrogen in Iran in line with the global trend of producing this fuel.
According to Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Development and Investment Group (PGPIDIG), a meeting on the development of hydrogen energy-based technologies was held in the presence of Azim Kalantari, the head of the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI), Mohammad Reza Karimi, the CEO of Arvand Petrochemical Company, and Rashid Qanei, the CEO of Petrol, and a working group in order to future research of energy was formed at the international level and the necessity of developing the world’s cleanest fuel, hydrogen, was emphasized.
Rashid Ghanei, CEO of Petrol and Assistant CEO of Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) in the development of knowledge-based and downstream petrochemical industries, emphasized in this meeting: “Many countries in the world have put the development of clean energy, especially hydrogen, on the agenda, and it is necessary for us to enter this field as well to achieve its knowledge and technical ability.”
The head of RIPI also pointed out that the characteristics of hydrogen energy have made it an attractive fuel option for transportation applications and power generation, and said: “This fuel can be used in cars, houses, portable power generation and in many applications.”
