Iran Names Eight New Ambassadors
TEHRAN -- President Ebrahim Raisi has called on Iran’s ambassadors to represent and protect the country’s interests and values abroad.
He made the appeal during a meeting here with a group of new Iranian ambassadors.
The president told the new ambassadors that their mission was to contribute to the economic development of Iran, pay special attention to the affairs of Iranian expatriates, observe and promote Islamic values, and take action against any fraudulent economic activity.
Iran appointed eight ambassadors to six countries and two international organizations.
Mahmoud Adib, Iraj Elahi, Motjaba Amani, Majid Qafelebashi, Hussein Gharibi, and Khalil Sadaati were named Iran’s ambassadors respectively to Georgia, India, Lebanon, Czech Republic, Poland, and Sierra Leone.
Amir-Saeed Irvani was appointed as Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, replacing Majid Takht Ravanchi. Ali Bahraini was named as Iran’s representative to international organizations in Vienna.
Iravani’s past experience includes serving as Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Iraq, secretary of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, and deputy head of the Supreme National Security Council’s secretariat for international security and foreign relations.
