Syria Air Defenses Intercept Zionist Missile Barrage
DAMASCUS (Dispatches) – Syrian air defenses intercepted a Zionist missile barrage targeting the vicinity of the capital Damascus, state media said early on Monday, citing a military source.
The source was quoted as saying that the interception resulted in some material damage.
SANA cited a military source as saying the missiles came from the skies over eastern Lebanon, and targeted outposts in the vicinity of Damascus.
No other details were immediately available, and there was no comment from the Zionist regime on the attack which occurred shortly after 3 a.m. in Damascus. The occupying regime carries out raids on Syria mostly overnight.
The development came a month after the Zionist regime’s military fired a number of missiles at Syria’s strategic western port of Latakia. It was the second strike by the occupying regime in a month on the key facility following the attack on December 7.
Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. The Syrian government says the Zionist regime and its Western and regional allies are aiding terrorist groups that are wreaking havoc in the country.
The occupying regime frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of the resistance movement Hezbollah which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army in its fight against the foreign-backed terrorists.
The Zionist regime mostly keeps quiet about its attacks on Syrian territories which many view as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s increasing success in confronting terrorism.
The occupying regime has been a key supporter of terrorist groups that have opposed the government of President Bashar al-Assad since the foreign-backed militancy erupted in Syria.
