Syria Shot Down 8 of 12 Zionist Missiles

DAMASCUS (Dispatches) – The Pantsir missile systems of the Syrian air defense forces destroyed eight out of 12 missiles launched by the Zionist regime at the T-4 airfield in the Homs region on Friday, Vadim Kulit, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria, told reporters on Saturday.
“On October 8 at 21:33, trespassing into airspace of the Syrian Arab Republic near Al-Tanf, six F-16 tactical fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force fired 12 guided missiles at the T-4 (Tifor) airfield in Homs province,” he said.
“The Syrian air defense forces on duty... destroyed eight missiles from the Russian-made Pantsir surface-to-air missile system,” he noted.
The attack left six Syrian soldiers injured and inflicted relatively minor damage on the Syrian Armed Forces’ property, Kulit added.
Syria’s official news agency, citing a military source, reported that Zionist aircraft fired several missiles from the direction of al-Tanf, a U.S. outpost on the border between Syria, Jordan and Iraq, towards the T-4 military airport.
The source stressed that Syrian air defenses shot down most of the missiles.
Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed terrorism since March 2011. The Syrian government says the Zionist regime and its Western and regional allies are aiding Takfiri terrorist groups that are wreaking havoc in the country.
The occupying regime frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of the resistance movement Hezbollah which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army in its fight against the foreign-backed terrorists.
The Zionist regime mostly keeps quiet about its attacks on Syrian territories which many view as knee-jerk reaction to Syrian government’s increasing success in confronting terrorism.
The occupying regime has been a main supporter of terrorist groups that have opposed the government of President Bashar al-Assad since foreign-backed militancy erupted in Syria nine years ago.
