Muslim Body Urges Taliban to Establish ‘Fair Rule’
KABUL (Dispatches) – Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), Ali Al-Qaradaghi has urged the Taliban government in Afghanistan to “establish a just rule”.
“Dr. Al-Qaradaghi has recommended the [Afghan] government place its priority in establishing a just rule that will be a model of the Islam of justice and the Islam of mercy,” IUMS said in a statement.
Earlier IUMS President, Ahmed Raissouni, Secretary-General Ali Al-Qaradaghi, and the director of IUMS Qatar branch, Muhammad Al-Yafei, met a delegation from the Afghanistan political office that temporarily leads the government.
“The [Afghan] delegation was headed by Sher Muhammad Abbas Stanikzai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Emirate of Afghanistan,” the statement said.
During the meeting, the statement added, Raissouni offered to assist the Afghan government with the refinement of education as well as in the fields of politics and economy.
Following U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to fully withdraw the American troops from Afghanistan, the government swiftly fell in Kabul amid the Taliban’s seizure of the entire country.
The Taliban announced the formation of a caretaker government in early September.
Daesh has also a foothold in eastern and northern Afghanistan, particularly in Nangarhar, which is regarded as its base in the war-torn country.
Takfiri terrorist group Daesh has claimed responsibility for a spate of bomb attacks targeting Taliban forces in eastern Afghanistan in recent days.
A series of deadly explosions in the city of Jalalabad, the capital of eastern province of Nangarhar province, killed at least three people and wounded 20 others over the weekend, according to sources citing reports from hospitals and eyewitnesses.
