LONDON (Dispatches) - Prime Minister Boris Johnson has shaken up his cabinet, and after sacking a handful of ministers is now moving others to new jobs. Former Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and former Trade Secretary Liz Truss were the first moves. Johnson began culling his cabinet on Wednesday afternoon, letting go of Education Secretary Gavin Williamson, Justice Secretary Robert Buckland, Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick, and Conservative Party co-Chair Amanda Milling in rapid succession.

LONDON (Dispatches) -The British parliament has banned Chinese Ambassador to London Zheng Zeguang from attending the country’s legislature over Beijing’s sanction against a number of UK MPs in March for spreading “lies” about China’s internal affairs. Beijing has reacted to the move by calling it ‘despicable.’ The Chinese Embassy in London reacted swiftly to the British move, blasting “the despicable and cowardly action of certain individuals of the UK Parliament to obstruct normal exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK for personal political gains.”

PORT-AU-PRINCE (Dispatches) - Haiti’s political crisis has worsened after Prime Minister Ariel Henry has sacked the chief public prosecutor who had accused him of links to the assassination of President Jovenel Moise on July 7. Henry’s decision to fire prosecutor Bed-Ford Claude has exposed the infighting at the highest levels of what is left of Haiti’s government, more than two months after Moise was shot dead by assassins who stormed his private residence in the hills above Port-au-Prince.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican authorities rescued on Tuesday 22 foreigners, most of them Cuban and Haitian, who were earlier in the day kidnapped when gunmen stormed a hotel in the central state of San Luis Potosi, the region’s attorney general said. The gunmen also kidnapped 16 Mexicans when they ransacked the Sol y Luna hotel in Matehuala, about 195 km north of the city of San Luis Potosi, the regional capital.

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - At least seven people were killed and 10 others injured in a suicide car bombing in the Somali capital, Mogadishu’s Wadajir district on Tuesday evening, the police and witnesses said. The police officer said a suicide bomber wrapped in an explosive vest blew himself up at a tea restaurant in Mogadishu, killing both civilians and Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers. “A suicide bomber walked into a teashop and detonated his explosive vest, killing seven people and leaving 10 others injured,” said a police officer who declined to be identified.
