Pakistani FM in Contact With Iran on Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD (Dispatches) -- Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday stressed the need for direct talks between the Kabul government and the Taliban, saying Islamabad is in contact with key regional players, including Iran, to advance the Afghan peace process.
“We are in contact with Afghanistan’s neighbors and important regional actors, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran. We are talking to them and we are looking for cooperation to advance the peace process,” he said during a press conference in the eastern city of Multan.
