Iran to Add 22 Items to Petrochemical Output Mix

TEHRAN -- The Director of Planning and Development at the National Petrochemical Company Hassan Abbaszadeh has said 33 petrochemical projects are under way in the country by whose development 22 new data-x-items will be added to the country’s production portfolio.
Abbaszadeh added, “In the value chain of the oil industry from upstream to downstream, the most important link to prevent crude sales is the petrochemical industry.”
He said there are currently 67 active petrochemical complexes in the country, of which three are utility companies, adding: “These complexes last year received about 40 million tons, equivalent to 992,000 barrels of crude oil per day as feedstock from the upstream sector, and supplied about 35 million tons of final product, of which 25 million tons were exported and about 10 million tons were supplied domestically.”
The Planning and Development Director of the National Petrochemical Company continued: “330 polymer grades and 40 types of chemicals from this industry are supplied to domestic industries and about 15,000 small and large enterprises are active in this industry in Iran.”
He pointed out that 48 development projects are being implemented in the form of the second and third leaps in the petrochemical industry, adding that these projects will increase the industry’s capacity by 45 million tons, and require $30 billion in investment, of which $8 billion has been spent so far and the rest will be financed and absorbed in the coming years.
