Iran Rolls Out National Knowledge-Based Projects

TEHRAN – The outgoing president of Iran Hassan Rouhani highlighted his administration’s support for domestic knowledge-based companies, whose number he said has multiplied 100-fold to 5,800 over the past 8 years.
In remarks on Monday, Rouhani said Iran has made great strides in developing knowledge-based companies under his administration.
The country’s scientific progress did not come to halt during years of economic war, he said, adding that there were only 55 knowledge-based companies in Iran when he took office in 2013, while that number has now risen to around 5,800.
Iran’s development and progress in future would materialize through the course of knowledge-based economy, he stressed, describing it as the only way that Iran would catch up with advanced countries.
During the 76th plan of ‘Prudence and Hope for Surge in Production’ campaign, National Observatory of Kashan Institute of Basic Sciences, Tehran University development plan for electric bus, and the permanent exhibition of exports of knowledge-based products in Tehran Permanent Fairground were inaugurated in Tehran, Isfahan and Kermanshah.
Innovative houses in Kashan, Isfahan, and Tehran; and science and technology park innovation factory in Kermanshah were opened upon president Rouhani’s order.
Some 385 billion tomans was invested by private sector and the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology for these plans.
