Iran’s Taekwondo Athlete Qualifies for Olympic Games
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Nahid Kiani from Iran confirmed her place in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic taekwondo tournament.
Kiani qualified for the women’s -57kg final in the 2021 Asian Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament underway in Amman, Jordan.
She will face Lo Chia-ling (TPE) in the gold medal match.
Her route to the final included beating Law Sin Yi (Hong Kong), Phannapa Harnsujin (Thailand) and Natali Hamaidi (Jordan).
Kiani will be the only Iranian woman taekwondo athlete in the prestigious Games, while Mir Hashem Hosseini (-68kg) and Armin Hadipour (-58kg) will represent Iran in the men’s division.
Taekwondo at Tokyo Olympic Games will be held from July 24 to 27.
