Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei:
Zionist Regime to Perish in Not So Far Future
TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Friday Israel is an illegitimate regime that "will soon cease to exist" and reiterated his call for a referendum to determine the future of Palestine.
"The Zionist regime's problem is its lack of legitimacy; it is a regime that was established on hollow foundations," Ayatollah Khamenei said in a speech delivered Friday to leading government officials, members of the public, and ambassadors from Muslim countries on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the holiday that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
He said one of the basic goals behind the founding of the occupying regime is fomenting dissension and creating problems among Muslim nations, "but all historical experience shows that the Zionist regime, which faces a problem of legitimacy, will not remain."
Ayatollah Khamenei also rebuked some of the Arab states that have strengthened ties with Israel.
"The fact that some of the weak-minded countries of the region have established open or secret diplomatic relations with this occupying regime or support America's moving of its embassy to Al-Quds will not solve the problems of the Zionist regime," the Leader said.
"The Zionist regime will not last. All historical experiences imply that with absolute certainty. Undoubtedly the Zionist regime will perish in the not so far future," he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei also called for a referendum to be held by "real Palestinians," including Muslims, Christians and Jews — referring to Jews who lived in the country before Israel's creation in 1948 — that would determine the nature of Palestine.
"Like all free countries, people of Palestine--real Palestinians--should be polled to determine the political system of Palestine; that governing body will decide on future of immigrants in Palestine. There's no other solution and this leads to the elimination of the Zionist regime."
Earlier, Ayatollah Khamenei told a congregation of worshippers here that the United States has evidently failed in achieving its policies in the region, stressing that Muslim nations worldwide are now more united than ever before in pursuing their common goals despite the plots of the enemies.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the United States has wasted trillions of dollars in the Middle East but has achieved nothing as openly acknowledged by President Donald Trump.
"The U.S. president said that ‘we spent $7 trillion in this region, and gained nothing in return.’ This means defeat. The U.S. has suffered defeat in the region. The Great Satan has fallen short of achieving its goals, despite all its efforts, evil dispositions, and hot-air rhetoric. It has just wasted its resources,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said unity among Muslim nations has grown stronger, stressing that this is clearly evident in the powerful participation of Muslims in last Friday's rallies to mark the International Quds Day.
"This means that, despite the enemies’ propaganda, Muslim nations and the great nation of Iran have grown closer and more aligned with one another,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted.
Nevertheless, he said, the enemies are constantly plotting against the Iranian nation. This, the Leader added, is because they are afraid of the Iranian nation's might, steadfastness as well as their ambitions to forge stronger bonds with other nations.
"The enemies will obviously continue their struggles but will fail,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted.
Iran's Leader further urged the nation to be vigilant in the face of enemy plots specifically manifested in efforts to mount economic pressure on the country and disappoint the Iranian people.
Towards preserving the country’s economic interests, Ayatollah Khamenei advised importers to refuse to bring in commodities which are being already produced at home.
The Leader also advised members of the public against going on "unnecessary and expensive foreign vacations," and called for a serious fight against corruption.
