TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday warned against protracted talks in Vienna, reiterating that Iran will only return to its commitments once it has verified the removal of all U.S. sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
Ayatollah Khamenei said he has announced the country’s policy regarding the sanctions and conveyed it to the officials in writing, in meetings and in public, adding the country’s policy is clear.
"The decision of the authorities is to negotiate to implement this policy. I have no objection in this regard, but care must be taken to ensure that the negotiations are not drawn out and that the parties do not drag out the negotiations, because this is detrimental to the country,” the Leader said.
"The United States does not negotiate to accept the right word; rather the United States wants to negotiate to impose the falsehood,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.
The Leader also rebuked the Europeans for lack of independence in their decisions.
"In some private meetings, the Europeans admit that Iran is right, but they have no independence in their decision-making, where the United States bullies and imposes its views on them. The proposals it makes are often arrogant and humiliating, which are not even worthy of looking at.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said he hopes the officials would move forward with open eyes and a strong heart and trust in God and the remembrance of God Almighty, and that God’s success will include them and make the nation happy.
The Leader also touched on the rise in coronavirus cases after a period of stability, saying the numbers are shocking, which call for the vigilance of authorities not to take the disease lightly.
"The authorities should do what they have to do and act according to what health experts say,” he said.
"All programs in the country have been affected by this disease. We have to do something to stop this disease. This is not possible except by policy-making and planning and implementation and observance of protocols by individuals.”
