TEHRAN -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Monday the high position that God bestowed on nuclear and defense scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was the reward of his unparalleled efforts and sincerity.
"This position is not comparable to any other worldly position,” the Leader told the scientist’s family during a meeting here.
Fakhrizadeh was assassinated in a road ambush in Absard near Tehran on November 27, 2020. The complicated act of terror involved the use of electronic equipment without any assassin at the scene.
In his meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei praised the scientific and technical achievements of the scientist.
"The exaltation that God bestowed upon that noble man was the reward of his unparalleled labors and sincerity, and this position is not comparable to any other worldly position,” the Leader said.
"The greatness of Martyr Fakhrizadeh’s name among the general public and the expression of regret by many young people for his anonymity during his lifetime are among other manifestations of the martyr’s sincerity,” he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the wives of the martyrs share in their reward.
"We ask God to send His patience and peace on your hearts, so that with God’s help you can continue your movement in accordance with the dignity of the Martyr,” the Leader told the scientist’s family.
Fakhrizadeh’s wife and children thanked the Leader for his "kind and enlightening message” after the assassination of the scientist and emphasized the need to explain the intellectual thinking of the martyrs of the scientific jihad and make them examples for the youths to follow.
Last month, Ayatollah Khamenei awarded the Medal of Nasr (Victory) to the scientist, with Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Muhammad Hussein Baqeri visiting his family to present the medal.
In a message after the assassination, the Leader called on all relevant administrators to "investigate this crime and firmly prosecute its perpetrators and its commanders” and "to continue the martyr’s scientific and technological efforts in all the sectors where he was active.”
Iranian officials have said the occupying regime of Israel and the terrorist MKO grouplet were behind the assassination.
According to the deputy commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), a satellite-controlled machine gun with "artificial intelligence” was used in the assassination.
