Palestine to Prosecute Companies Operating in Zionist Settlements

RAMALLAH (Dispatches) – A senior Palestinian official said on Tuesday that the Palestinian government would prosecute companies operating in the illegal Zionist settlements in occupied Palestinian territory.
Palestinian Minister of Justice Mohammed al-Shalaldeh told "Voice of Palestine” that the Palestinian cabinet assigned two ministries to initiate prosecuting companies, which work and operate in the illegal settlements.
"The cabinet decided to assign the Palestinian ministries of justice and foreign affairs to initiate practical steps of accountability and legal prosecution of these companies,” al-Shalaldeh said.
He added that the Palestinian move is based on the United Nations blacklist, issued in February, of Zionist and international companies and economic entities operating in the illegal settlements.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye said on Monday that the occupying regime continues its plan for building more settlement houses in Palestine.
Ishtaye said during an online meeting of the Palestinian Authority’s cabinet that the Zionist regime "races against time to impose new facts on the ground in the Palestinian territories.”
He warned of "the unprecedented dangerous developments” in the regime’s settlement activities in the West Bank and East Al-Qud.
The prime minister noted that an escalated Israeli plan would go on for 10 weeks to build more housing units, adding that the Zionist regime’s plans to "suffocate neighborhoods in the West Bank and isolate it from East Al-Quds.”
The Zionist regime occupied the West Bank and East Al-Quds in 1967 and has constructed settlements there. The Palestinians and the interational community say the settlements are illegal and violate international law.
In another development, Zionist protesters heckled a group of European diplomats who were visiting the site of a planned illegal settlement expansion in occupied East Al-Quds.
The diplomats went to Givat Hamatos in East Al-Quds to voice their opposition a day after Zionist regime authorities announced tenders for more than 1,200 new homes.
The new construction would further sever East Al-Quds from the occupied Palestinian town of Bethlehem and the southern West Bank.
European Union Heads of Mission and like-minded countries pay an urgent visit to Givat Hamatos site. The EU has repeatedly called on Israel to end all settlement activity and to dismantle outposts erected since March 2001.
The diplomats were met by around 50 right-wing protesters who waved Israeli flags and chanted "EU, shame on you!”
The protesters chanted so loudly that members of the delegation were unable to deliver public statements and had to relocate to another part of the city, TRT reported.
