A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed

By: Seyyed Ali Shahbaz

The US administration is made up of criminal elements. It is an evil entity that is the cause of most of the ills of the modern world, which warrants that the free world should get together to cut its terrorist tentacles.
It is not that difficult to defeat the inflated might of the US. All it requires is the resolve of independent countries to confront American crimes against humanity in the various fields – whether economic, industrial, trade, technological, cultural, political, and military.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, which is the prime victim of US terrorism, stands out as the model state determined to cut Washington to its actual size through its rational policy at home and on the international scene.
For the past forty years, despite resorting to the most devilish designs the US has failed to dent the iron-will of the Iranian nation, whose influence in the region and beyond is rapidly growing, along with its state-of-the-art defensive capabilities, along with mastering of post-modern technology, which are indeed a superb deterrence against any would-be aggressor.
Today, Islamic Iran is the cynosures of all eyes in the free world, and those peoples and governments impressed by the excellent example of Iran continue to frustrate the satanic plots of the US and its devilish clients, not just in the Southwest Asian region, but in places as far away as Latin America.
Venezuela is one such country. It holds the world’s largest oil deposits, but because of the criminal policies of the US, it is facing political and economic difficulties, which the popularly elected government in Caracas is trying to overcome with the support of its masses, as well as friendly countries such as Iran, Russia, and China.
Recently, Iran rebuffed American threats to send much needed oil shipments to Venezuela, with promises to send more if required, and now as part of its cooperation in various fields to offset US sanctions – in spite of being under the criminal US sanctions itself – it has opened a sprawling supermarket in Caracas that houses under a single roof at least 2,500 different Iranian products, ranging from foodstuff to industrial items, and hosiery to toys, as well as carpets and cutlery, etc.
This speaks volumes of Iran’s progress as well as its power and prestige on the international scene to come to the rescue of oppressed people far beyond its borders.
Interestingly, the name chosen for this Iranian hypermarket (or Supermercado in Spanish) is "Megasis”.
It derives its name from a village in Khuzestan, southwestern Iran that stood the brunt of the attacks during the 8-year war imposed on the Islamic Republic in the 1980s by the US through Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime.
It is worth recalling that Megasis village changed hands several times during the war, and on its final liberation by the Iranian forces, it was transformed into a prominent pole of reconstruction.
Today when there is no sign of the criminal Saddam, let alone his tyrannical regime, and the US is on its last legs in Iraq on the threshold of its final kick out from Mesopotamia and Levant (and God-Willing from all of Southwest Asian), Megasis stands out as a flourishing township of prosperous and self-confident Iranian people looking forward to an economic bonanza in cooperation with their Iraqi brethren on the other side of the border.
In other words, Megasis in Caracas augurs well for both Iran and Venezuela. Insha Allah, it is a sign for the eventual victory of the Latin American people over the demonic US, which in the near future will not be a power anymore even in its own region, while the friendship of the Islamic Republic with the long oppressed masses of the New World, will be proof of the famous adage: "A friend in need is a friend indeed.”
