President Rouhani:

Al-Quds Will Not Remain Under Occupation

TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday the Iranian people will not tolerate cruelty against the Palestinians, adding Jerusalem al-Quds likewise will not remain under the occupation of the Zionist oppressors.
The Iranian president said one of the main principles of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to support the oppressed and stand up to the oppressors.
"We believe that in the end, the right will prevail over the wrong. Quds will not remain occupied by the usurpers, and although a new conspiracy is being hatched against the oppressed Palestinians every day, they will sooner or later emerge victorious,” he said.
Rouhani made the remarks ahead of the International Quds Day which will be marked on Friday.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will deliver a speech on the occasion which is held every year on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.
Millions of Muslims and other supporters of Palestine hold rallies worldwide to reaffirm their call for the liberation of Palestinian territories and denounce Israeli atrocities.
This year, however, street demonstrations have been canceled in Iran due to the coronavirus pandemic and replaced by online events.
They will include speech by key resistance leaders, including Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Yemen’s Houthi leader Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi, Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Ziyad al-Nakhalah, Bahrain’s most prominent cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, leader of Iraq’s Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq movement Sheikh Qais al-Khazali and head of the Sunni Endowment of Iraq Sheikh Dr. Abdul-Latif al-Hamim.
The International Quds Day is one of the most important Islamic and historical occasions, President Rouhani said.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry also underlined the importance of the occasion, saying it is "a yearly reminder to the Muslim world that the Israeli regime’s occupation & aggressive actions have been an underlying factor in conflicts in our region”.
"The Zionist regime was born through terror, and since then has assassinated thousands of people from ordinary #Palestinians to prominent Arab figures and Iranian scientists. A terrorist regime in nature, Israel still continues to sow seeds of chaos in our region,” it said on its English-language Twitter account.
Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Muhammad Baqeri said the "discourse of resistance” against US-backed Israeli atrocities has now spread beyond Palestine and throughout the region.
The Palestinian Intifada — the nation’s decades-old rebellion against Israeli occupation — has now gone far beyond the occupied territories and reached a "decisive stage”, he said.
Baqeri said U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial "deal of the century” in addition to attempts by Arab regime to normalize ties with the occupying regime of Israel have helped promote the Palestinian Intifada outside the occupied territories
The Zionist regime, he added, is now bogged down "in a quagmire of incidents and problems” and knows well that it can no longer support the Israeli regime’s survival.
Baqeri touched on the father of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini’s "immortal motto” of "Israel’s elimination from the face of the world,” and expressed hope that the expulsion of the US from the Middle East region would initiate that process.
