Japan Seeks Continued Consultations With Iran

TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Mori Takeo met with Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif here on Saturday and discussed plans for further consultations between the two countries.
Mori hailed his "constructive” negotiations with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi earlier, stressing that Tokyo attaches great significance to its relations and continuation of consultations with Tehran.
For his part, Zarif highlighted the amicable and constructive ties between the two Asian nations.
Pointing to Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo’s landmark visit to Iran and his meeting with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in June, Zarif voiced Tehran’s willingness to continue consultations with Tokyo on various bilateral and regional issues.
Abe visited Tehran in June to become the first Japanese leader to visit Iran in more than four decades.
The Japanese leader met with Ayatollah Khamenei and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
