Remembering A Doleful Day

Salaam dear young friends. Hope you are fine by the Grace of God Almighty. Sure, you are still basking in the blessings of Eid al-Fitr which we all celebrated in the Islamic Republic of Iran and most of the world last week on Wednesday, June 5.
The Eid is indeed icing to the cake of fasting Ramadhan. It is a favour of God for Muslims and presents one of the most spectacular sights of Islamic unity and solidarity. This is especially evident in the performance of the Special Eid Prayer, where multitudes of men and children – as well as women – gather to bow and prostrate to the Lord Most High in unison as a form of thanksgiving.
Well, with the Divine Banquet of Ramadhan over and the euphoria of Eid behind us, we resume our normal life, albeit with more vigour, energy, and resolve that we acquired during the month-long spiritual exercise of fasting.
Dear youngsters, as you all know, today is a very tragic day.
Yes, as usual you are correct. Today is 8th of Shawwal and each year we mark the anniversary of the tragedy that occurred in the year 1344 AH (1926 AD) when the shrine of the Seal of Messengers in Medina was riddled with bullets by the savage Wahhabi hordes of the desert brigand of Najd, Abdul-Aziz Aal-e Saud, who having failed to raze to the ground the Sacred Green Dome, wreaked vengeance on the tombs of the elite of Islam in the nearby Jannat al-Baqi’ Cemetery, blasphemously bulldozing every canopied structure, especially the majestic mausoleum over the blessed resting places of Four of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAWA) Infallible Heirs – Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (AS), Imam Zain al-Abedin (AS), Imam Muhammad Baqer (AS) and Imam Ja’far as-Sadeq (AS).
These dastardly thugs have no respect for even the dead. They desecrate the graveyards of even the Prophet’s progeny and companions. The most shameful incident of their enmity to Islam was the blasphemous destruction of the Sacred Baqi’ Cemetery of Medina in 1926.
Over the past 96 years Baqi’ has remained an open wound, and all efforts to persuade the British-installed and American-backed rulers of the spurious state of Saudi Arabia (created by London in 1932 AD) to rebuild the holy shrines, or to allow its restoration to its past glory, have been in vain.
We are highly confident that with the imminent end of Wahhabi stranglehold on Arabia, these holy shrines will be rebuilt on a grand scale.
Remember, like the Zionists who are eradicating the Islamic heritage in Palestine, their cousins the Saudis have also destroyed the house where Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) was born in Mecca and the tombs of the Bani Hashem in the equally sacred Jannat al-Mu’alla Cemetery of Mecca, such as those of the Prophet’s grandfather Hazrat Abdul-Muttaleb (AS), uncle and guardian Hazrat Abu Taleb (AS), mother Amena bint Wahb (SA) and the loyal wife of over 25-long years Umm al-Momineen (Mother of Believers), Hazrat Khadija (SA).
In the meantime, let us turn towards the direction of Jannat al-Baqi’ and recite the greeting with which Prophet Mohammad (SAWA) used to salute the grave of this Sacred Cemetery:
"Peace upon you, O Abode of the Faithful! God Willing, we would soon join you. O’ Allah, shower your mercy on the denizens of al-Baqi”.
