Ayatollah Khamenei:
Youth Will Witness Demise of Enemies of Humanity
TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Iran’s youth will witness the demise of the occupying regime of Israel and American civilization, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said late Wednesday.
"You young people should be assured that you will witness the demise of the enemies of humanity, meaning the degenerate American civilization, and the demise of Israel,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in a meeting with students.
The Leader hailed the Iranian youth as the main players in building a brighter future for the country, saying they can make a huge difference in Iran's governing system and foil the enemy’s soft conspiracies.
Ayatollah Khamenei also said from the outset he did not believe in the 2015 nuclear deal.
U.S. President Donald Trump pulled out of the nuclear deal with Iran last year and reimposed sanctions, saying the accord did not address the Islamic Republic’s missile program and influence in the region.
"The way (the nuclear deal) was put into action, I didn’t have much faith (in it),” Ayatollah Khamenei said. "And we repeatedly told the president and the foreign minister and gave them notice.”
Two weeks ago, Iran notified the remaining signatories to the deal - China, France, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom - that it would halt some commitments under the nuclear deal, a year after the United States unilaterally withdrew from the accord.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the role of the Leader does not include intervention in executive affairs unless the entirety of the Islamic Revolution is at risk.
"I believe that the Leader should not meddle in executive affairs unless there is a risk that the entirety of Revolution's movement is endangered.”
Ayatollah Khamenei invited the nation to take promising measures towards a brighter future for Iran.
"We need a public movement in order to reach the envisaged future. The committed youth will naturally act as the main players for carrying out this movement.”
The Leader also urged the young generation to launch a movement for the progress of the nation and recommend.
"Prepare the grounds for the formation of a young and pious government. We expect you the university students to be self-organized and self-motivated, like when we acted during the tyrannical Pahlavi rule. Do not wait for others to get you involved.”
Ayatollah Khamenei recalled the resistance formed against the Pahlavi regime and described it as a model to be adopted by the young generation today, saying "At that time, no one was leading us; at times a new announcement reached us from Imam Khomeini, which motivated us.”
