2018 World Cup Final Arena ‘Ahead of Schedule’: FIFA
MOSCOW (The Hindu) - Work at the Luzhniki Stadium which will host the final of the 2018 World Cup is proceeding ahead of schedule, FIFA’s chief inspector says.
The announcement is a stark contrast to the delays which plagued building work for the venues at Brazil’s World Cup.
Chris Unger, the head of FIFA’s monitoring group for the 2018 World Cup, said "they seem to be ahead of schedule here” while visiting the stadium, which has been gutted for renovation, keeping only its imposing Soviet-era facade.
Unger also said proposals to keep a temporary roof on Sochi’s Fishy Olympic Stadium for the World Cup seemed to have been abandoned.
